How Often Should I Replace My Toothbrush?

Brushing your teeth everyday is very important but did you know that many people don’t know how often they should replace their toothbrush?  The American Dental Association recommends replacing your toothbrush every 3 to 4 months.  If you are not to sure how much time has passed since you replaced your tooth brush you can always look at the bristles.  If the bristles look warn, bent, or split at the tips,  it is time to throw that tooth brush out and get a new one.  Luckily most new tooth brushes will tell you when it is time to change it.  The blue indicator strip will turn white when it is time.  If you are the type of person who can never remember when it is time to change your tooth brush this is the way to go.

According to sources like WebMD, it’s important to replace your toothbrush often because over time they are contaminated with microorganisms that are collected when the toothbrush is in your mouth.  These microorganisms can cause infections or make you sick.
